5th Annual PAWS Mutt Strut a Huge Success
November 6, 2011

On behalf of the animals, huge thanks to everyone who helped make the 5th Annual Mutt Strut the biggest and best one yet! After the storm that forced us to postpone, we enjoyed a perfect day and couldn't be more thrilled by the turnout of PAWS friends and supporters. Together, we raised nearly $114,000 for Philadelphia's homeless animals. Approximately 1,500 participants attended, representing more than 100 Mutt Strut teams. It was a great day of activities, music, food, and fun, all to support our efforts to save Philadelphia's most vulnerable pets.

Congratulations to our top fundraisers!

  • Top individual participant: Marissa Rubinetti
It was a great day for the animals, as well: nine dogs were adopted, three dogs found foster homes, and one cat was adopted, too! PAWS dogs were "rented" to Mutt Strut participants, and they had a great day with their new friends.

Special thanks to our lead sponsors, David's Bridal and TD Bank, and to our Masters of Ceremonies: WMMR DJs Steve MorrisonMatt Cord, and Pierre Robert.

PAWS partners were on hand to offer a variety of tasty, fun, and educational opportunities and activities for 2-legged and 4-legged participants alike: ask the vet booth, basic grooming services, microchipping, dog obstacle course and bobbing for bones, costume contest, pet portraits, training tips, and much more! Participants enjoyed food from a variety of gourmet food trucks, plus live music throughout the day.

KYW Newsradio's Kidcasts mobile studio was there to give kids a chance to be KYW news anchors!

Proceeds from the Mutt Strut will enable us to rescue thousands of homeless pets in the coming year. We were so proud to be surrounded by the people who make our work possible, and we are deeply grateful for our community of caring and generous partners.

About PAWS: PAWS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving Philadelphia's homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals. PAWS is the city's largest no-kill shelter and operates a high-volume, low-cost clinic serving pet owners and rescue organizations that lack access to affordable basic veterinary care. Opening this facility marked a major step toward achieving our mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating the unnecessary killing of Philadelphia's animals. Through our adoption locations, special events, and foster care network, PAWS finds loving homes for thousands of pets each year.
